<image:title>Keene Center at Walnut Acres Organic Farm - Working Organic Farm</image:title>
<image:caption>The Keene Center continues to operate as a certified organic farm. In the fields surrounding the community garden, you can see examples of crop rotation in action. The flower-filled meadow is resting this year, replenshing the nutrients in the soil to strengthen it for future crops and to help eliminate diseases from the soil. Other crops that can be seen around the farm include organic soybeans, organic field corn, and organic wheat.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Keene Center at Walnut Acres Farm is now an official Monarch Waystation filled with plants to attract, shelter, and feed Monarch butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Some of the many species planted include Butterfly Milkweed, Black-Eyed Susan, Verbena, Goldenrod, Ironwood, Sedum, Cosmos, Purple Coneflower, Zinnias, Sunflowers, Mountain Mint, and Zinnias. Of course, these plants are free from chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides that have destroyed so much butterfly habitat across the country.</image:caption>

<image:title>Bucknell University and the Walnut Acres Foundation - Summer 2021</image:title>
<image:caption>Digital Timeline of Walnut Acres and the Organic Foods Movement In the spring of 2021, I was approached by a professor about doing work with the Walnut Acres Foundation to build a historical timeline for the virtual museum being built on www.WalnutAcresProject.org Excited about the opportunity, and interested in the story behind Walnut Acres, I began work on the timeline with the help and guidance of Bucknell professor Dr. Shaunna Barnhart. The first task was to identify the correct software platform and technology to use with help from Todd Suomela of Bucknell L&IT who helped me land on an appropriate program. The rest of the summer was spent researching the history of Walnut Acres Organic Farm and the growth of the organic food movement in the United States, while simultaneously designing and editing the timeline. Each event on the timeline needed accompanying media including historic photos, current pictures of the farm, and archival footage of television features about the farm. After working all summer on the timeline, learning all about the farm and the organic movement, we were able to have the timeline go live on the Walnut Acres Project website and I look forward to continuing my work with Walnut Acres on future projects to further develop their virtual museum.
